Life and Brief Information About Cruise Ships
Cruise ships are equipped with the latest technology and can be likened to floating luxury hotels. The daily program of activities can be followed from the cruise newspaper distributed to your room on the evening before each day. This newspaper contains all tentative activities planned for the day, weather information, details about port calls, special restaurant or spa reservation contact info, and other relevant details. The most common language onboard is English. If you are in a guided program in Turkish, our guide will assist you with all aspects from the cruise newspapers to restaurant menus and prepare special bulletins for our valued guests.
When boarding the ship, you need to register your baggage, passport, and credit card information (a deposit will be required for potential expenses) at the check-in desk located at the entrance of the ship. Your passport will be returned only at the end of the tour after being handed over to the ship at the start of the voyage. After submitting your passport, the ship will give you a Boarding-Card. This card serves as your passport, cabin key, and will be used for all transactions onboard. The Boarding-Card contains your name, cabin number, meal session, and other details in writing.
There is a dress code for passengers on the ship. Since the ship hosts special events like the captain’s welcome dinner and gala night, you are kindly advised to bring elegant and formal attire. You can follow the schedule of events, including these dinners and other exclusive occasions, through the ship’s newsletter. The dress code is also specified in the bulletin.
Cruise ships have restaurants open for approximately 20 hours a day where you can eat anytime. Besides the main restaurant, which includes breakfast, lunch, and dinner included in your fare, there are fast food outlets and buffets available. There are also special concept restaurants such as Thai restaurants, Steak Houses, etc. You can make reservations in advance to enjoy specially prepared dishes by talented chefs. Thematic restaurants are subject to additional charges.
For families with children, many facilities and activities are available. The ship has swimming pools and play areas where children can spend time comfortably.
Cruise ships are designed by engineers to minimize rocking during travel, and the captains are specially trained. Smoking is prohibited in all indoor areas, including cabins. Smoking is not regulated on open decks, and you can smoke where there are signs and ashtrays. There are doctors and nurses onboard. Accessible cabins are available for passengers with disabilities.
