After breakfast, free time. Guests who wish can participate in the optional Moscow Combo Tour (120€ per person) [Moscow Metro & Arbat Street & Novodevichy (Nazim Hikmet) Cemetery]. Our tour starts with a visit to the Novodevichy Cemetery, where our famous poet Nazim Hikmet’s grave is located. We will also see the graves of important figures in Russian history. Then, the metro tour; not only a practical way to navigate the city but also offers a glimpse into the heart of Russian history and culture, it's an experience in itself. Opened in 1935, the metro has become one of the largest and busiest metro systems in the world with its 268 stations scattered around the city. Serving millions of passengers daily, it is Europe's busiest metro system. What truly sets Moscow Metro apart is the architectural beauty of many of its central stations. Riding the metro not only offers a quick escape from the famous Moscow traffic, but also provides a way to admire the city’s architectural heritage as each station tells its unique historical story. Our tour continues with Arbat Street; it is one of the historically and architecturally significant and fascinating streets in Moscow. As you walk along its cobblestone paths, you not only navigate a physical space but step through layers of Russian history and culture. The lively atmosphere of the street, with a history dating back to the 19th century, has long made it a hub for artists, writers, and musicians. Charming street cafes, unique shops, and street performers contribute to its bohemian atmosphere, creating a space where the past and present coexist perfectly. You will also have shopping opportunities on the historical Arbat Street. After the tour, free time. In the afternoon, our first stop is Red Square. The name Red Square historically derives from the Russian word "krasnaya," which means both "red" and "beautiful." While today "krasnaya" is mostly associated with the color red, in ancient times it also meant something beautiful or grand. Therefore, the name of the square reflects both its stunning appearance and its importance as a symbol of Russian heritage. After our walk in Red Square, we will visit the Kremlin; not only is it Europe’s largest active fortress, but it is also one of the strongest symbols of Russian history and authority. The term "Kremlin," which means "fortress in a city," appropriately describes its imposing walls and strategic location, initially built to protect Moscow’s citizens. Over the centuries, as Russia increased its power, the Moscow Kremlin became the center of political, religious, and cultural life in the country. Today, the Kremlin is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and has continued to be one of Russia's most iconic symbols. You will feel the rich history of the Kremlin up close. After the tour, return to the hotel and enjoy free time. Accommodation at our hotel.
