Day 1: Istanbul Airport – Catania Meeting with our valued guests at 05:00 in front of THY’s international departures F counters (counters 1–27) by entering through Gate 3 at Istanbul Airport, and check-in procedures. Departure to Catania at 06:55 on THY flight TK1393. Arrival in Catania at 08:25 local time. We head to Etna with the vehicle waiting for us. As we proceed toward Etna, we have the chance to take magnificent photos of Mount Etna, which welcomes us with its vegetation and scenery. On the way up to Europe’s highest active volcanic mountain, we will see Silvestri, the second crater at an altitude of 1,800 meters. Don’t forget to take some of the smoking rock pieces as souvenirs! Afterwards, we continue our tour amid many beautiful landscapes where we can take photos in the area formed by Etna Volcano’s lava. From there, we head to Syracuse. In Syracuse, the city where the famous mathematician Archimedes lived, among the places to be seen are the Fountain of Arethusa, the Cathedral, the Fountain of Diana, and the Temple of Apollo. After the tour, we head to the hotel, and after check-in, free time. Overnight at our hotel. Day 2: Savoca – Taormina – Giardini Naxos – Catania After breakfast, we begin our full-day excursion at the time previously determined by our guide. On our Savoca, Taormina, and Giardini Naxos tour, we will see the places where the world-famous film The Godfather was shot. Then, Bar Vitelli and San Michele Church are among the places to be seen. After walking through cinematic streets, we head to Taormina, the pearl of the Ionian Sea and one of Sicily’s most beautiful coastal towns. With its incomparable scenery, its location on the slopes of Mount Tauro, its streets, and its souvenir shops, after visiting this charming town, we move on to Giardini Naxos, famous for its colorful streets and volcanic beach. This cultural mosaic, first settled by the Greeks in the 6th century B.C., and later inhabited by Phoenicians and Romans, offers unforgettable photo opportunities. After the visit, return to our hotel. Day 3: Catania – Cefalù – Palermo After breakfast, we complete our check-out procedures and head to the city center of Catania. On our panoramic city tour, the Duomo Cathedral, Fontana dell’Elefante, Republic Square (Piazza Repubblica), and Via Etnea will be among the places to be seen. Then we arrive in Cefalù. In this charming fishing town on the Tyrrhenian Sea coast, we will spend pleasant time among the 12th-century historic cathedral, the fishermen’s gate, and its original streets. After the visit, we arrive at our hotel in Palermo. Day 4: Monreale – Palermo After breakfast, we depart from the hotel for our Monreale tour. We visit Monreale Cathedral, the most important structure of Byzantine architecture in Sicily. With its 6,500 m² of glass mosaics, the cathedral is considered one of the masterpieces of Byzantine art and one of the finest examples of Norman-period art. Then we return to Palermo city center. Politeama Square, Quattro Canti Square, Via Roma, and Via Libertà will be among the places to be seen. Overnight at our hotel. Day 5: Erice – Castellammare del Golfo – Palermo – Istanbul Airport After breakfast, we complete our check-out procedures and, at the time determined by our guide, head to Erice, a typical medieval town with its walls, courtyard stone houses, and streets. During the free time we will have here, you will feel as if you are in the Middle Ages. Then we move on to Castellammare del Golfo. This small but impressive town in Trapani stands out with its historical texture and natural beauty. Its long coastline and the Aragonese Castle are among the places to be seen. After the tour, we transfer to Palermo Airport and, following passport and baggage procedures, depart for Istanbul at 19:15 on Turkish Airlines flight TK1374. Arrival at Istanbul Airport at 22:45 local time. End of our tour.
